Macklemore Doesn’t Think He Should Win ‘Best Rap Album’ At The Grammys Either

Source magazine’s man of the year says what a majority of rap fans were already thinking: maybe, just maybe, Kendrick deserves to win the Grammy for the year’s best album.

“In terms of [that category], I think it should go to Kendrick. He’s family. TDE is family, and I understand why Hip-Hop would feel like Kendrick got robbed . I’m not trying to compare albums; I think you can make an argument for both. With that being said, I am a huge supporter of what Kendrick does. And because of that, I would love to win in a different category. We obviously had massive success on commercial radio, and I think that, in ways, The Heist was a bigger album, but Kendrick has a better rap album.”

That’s a seemingly noble gesture from Macklemore but, it’s an easy thing to say when you’re almost guaranteed a win. Honestly, I’m not really mad if he does. It’s not Macklemore’s fault that he’s White, he made a very good album that people connected to on a lowest common denominator level and decided to buy. Whether he’s a one hit wonder who managed to strike it gold or a guy who toiled to get to the top, it happened. It may never happen again. Don’t be apologetic, enjoy that sh*t.

Plus, Mack’s only half of one nominee. No word on if Hova, Yeezy and Drake are willing to forfeit to K.Dot, too.
