Manu Ginobili’s Game-Winning Lay-Up Vs. Memphis Produces Two-Way Tie Atop Western Conference

With the game on the line and a score tied, the absolute last thing a defense wants to do is allow a high percentage look at the basket. Seriously, if you’re going to permit an offensive player to do that, why not ask him how he likes his eggs in the morning, too?

Granted, shit happens, and last night in Memphis, shit indeed happened when the Grizzlies fell prey to a Gregg Popovich out-of-timeout inbounds play that worked to absolute perfection. As has been the case since 1997, Tim Duncan carried the Spurs with 24 points and 17 rebounds. But it was his fourth and final assist which ensured the Spurs improved their league-best road record to 14-3 and tied for first in the Western Conference with Oklahoma City.

Poor Ed Davis never stood a chance after switching onto Manu Ginobili. The slight hesitation sealed his fate. Manu preferred eggs scrambled with extra cheese, by the way.
