Despite what 50 Cent would have you believe, Luke Cage is already a thing and it’s happening a month from now. To celebrate, Netflix brings us this very dope poster with Cage standing tall over the city he protects.
Here’s a brief synopsis for those of you not familiar with the cat once known as Power Man:
In this groundbreaking new series, audiences will witness the evolution of Luke Cage (previously introduced in Marvel’s Jessica Jones) after he has relocated to Harlem and is in the process of picking up the pieces following his failed relationship with Jessica Jones. Like the preceding Marvel series on Netflix, Marvel’s Luke Cage is a gritty, action-packed drama, grounded in the real world with heroes who focus on saving their neighborhood and have their feet firmly planted on the ground.
The show will beam into your eyeballs on September 30 and like most things on Netflix, you’ll be done talking about it on October 2 once you detach yourself from the couch. If Daredevil and Jessica Jones are any indication, then this will be a very good watch and a dope way to spend the weekend. Plus all the hip-hop involved will give it the extra nudge to be the superior show to those. Yup, I’m calling it now, sight unseen. Having a hip-hop flavor in your show instantly gives it points.
This might be sacrilege, but this could very well be the New York Undercover of Marvel shows and that should make us all smile just a bit wider.
The new trailer releases on Tuesday, August 9 and, of course, we’ll have it for you when it does.
May all your Christmases be sweet.
