Meet Lil P-Nut: The Youngest In Charge

Just so we’re clear, Joe and Catherine’s seventh born will forever be the shining example of a “child prodigy.” Still, the contemporary rise of stars in the Chris Hansen division of celebrities – a la Diggy Simmons, Justin Bieber and, most recently, Willow Smith – has been hard to ignore.

With no real concrete basis for this next statement other than a few videos and my own opinion, Memphis’ own Lil P-Nut may be the next to join the underage union. I first heard about this kid over Labor Day Weekend on a random trip to World Star Hip Hop and meant to do a profile soon after (no To Catch A Predator). Here I am a month and change later and he’s beginning to make his rounds and I run the risk of dangerously teetering that “before the bandwagon” and “you’re too late” line.

I’m not a parent, so I can’t necessarily depict my feelings on kids being thrust into the limelight before learning how to simplify fractions. However, I’d be lying if I said P-Nut doesn’t have intangibles to make him a star in some aspect.

1. Personality – Any child star has had this. In a lot of cases, their personality > than their actual talent. It’s the “awe factor” that wins the majority of people over at this point. In P-Nut’s case, lil’ buddy has a personality that can make Bill Belichick crack a smile and ‘Angry Man’ from “Martin” see the glass half full.

Case in point, his appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Maybe part of it is being a kid, but he had the entire crowd wrapped around his finger from the moment his Southern drawl uttered the words, “Hey, Miss Ellen.” The fact he looks like Doughboy from Boyz N The Hood works in his favor, too.
