Method Man, Raekwon, And Inspectah Deck Revive ‘The Purple Tape’ With New Video

August 1995 saw the release of Only Built 4 Cuban Linx on a purple cassette tape loaded with gems that would define an entire era of drug raps. On top of naming his youngest son after Raekwon, Method Man also saw to it that “The Purple Tape” was the last to receive the visual treatment off his Meth Lab project. And even though the project dropped Aug. 21 this year, it has stayed in high rotation because of cuts just like this.

Featuring the original Raek and Inspectah Deck on verses, Meth and his young boy glide and slide all over the studio with their crew banging along to the J57-produced record. What the video lacks in quality, with its grainy footage and underlit scenes, it makes up for in jovial vibes as the Wu shows exactly how they treat people who have become family over the last few bullets.

For any dedicated Wu fans, Mr. Meth’s releasing a very limited number of signed The Meth Lab CDs for sale on his Bandcamp. Grab one for yourself or make it a stocking stuffer for one of the homies.
