On one hand, there’s arguably the most talented entertainer of his generation who already won an Oscar for his classic portrayal of Ray Charles in 2004’s Ray. On the other, there’s, without question, one of the most polarizing public figures of the past half century.
Following months of speculation, and the entertainer expressing his desire to portray the public figure on Live With Kelly & Michael in May, everything appears to be set in stone.
Jamie Foxx will portray Mike Tyson, with Iron Mike’s blessing, in a forthcoming biopic.
“Me and Jamie Foxx are in discussion, and we gonna do it,” said Tyson. “Within a year to 18 months, we’re going to do the Mike Tyson story and he’s going to portray me, and now they have this new animation; because you know Jamie’s pretty much my age so he can’t portray me but they have this new system.”
The “new system” he refers to is CGI, famously used in the Brad Pitt blockbuster, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Still untitled, the film would feature Foxx portraying the megastar athlete at various points in his life. They’re already off to a promising start, too.
“I had my makeup artist dress me up as Mike Tyson. People were literally coming up asking for autographs,” Foxx said on Kelly & Michael.
If the prospect of Jamie Foxx and Mike Tyson wasn’t appealing enough, the haymakers keep landing. The former heavyweight champion of the world also revealed legendary director Martin Scorsese would be involved as well.
Now this is a biopic to get behind.
