Don’t get it twisted. Te’o is still the leading candidate for weirdest, funniest story of 2013, but the trailer for the return of MTV’s controversial series, Catfish, tip-toes on the edge of boarderline scripted. That’s about the only way to believe some of these cases even made it to TV.
The 16-episode sophomore campaign of Nev Schulman and Max Jospeh’s brainchild airs June 25 at 10 p.m. EST with a special Hooked On Catfish: The Road To Season Two set to run June 17.
Prior to Catfish’s return, MTV will air the 30-minute special Hooked on Catfish: The Road to Season Two at 11 p.m. on June 17, during which viewers will get a sneak peek at the new season: the stories of Cassie, a Florida girl who pursues her Atlanta-rapper fiance, Steve, whom she’s never met; and Anthony, an Iraq veteran captivated by a mystery man named Marq.
That’s right, ladies and gents. The return of Catfish is on the horizon. Or as it will be known from here on out, The Jerry Springer Show for the social media generation.
