Statik Selektah and Termanology are back like they never left. With “Shining,” the duo creates a very uplifting, peaceful record that’s sure to strike a chord with most of its listeners. Statik’s had a recent surge in production quality and he’s continually proving his weight in gold as a producer by proving he can tailor every beat to maximize the emcee’s potential, no matter who he’s working with. Once the DJ laid down the foundations, Term just had to come through and try not to make it look too easy. The end result winds up becoming a reminder of why 1982’s music is essential to the Hip-Hop head’s palette. And kudos to anyone who can name all of the samples used on the intro.
2012 on the way.
