Action Bronson – “Blackbird”

“Dine at Blackbird with hoodies and some Balances.”

Action Bronson pops up with a new record as he’s accompanied by all-out funky production by Thelonious Martin. Recorded for Ruby Hornet’s Closed Sessions Vol. 2, Bronson gets detailed and whips up several references specific to the Chi, drawing on the names of Mike Singletary, Al Capone and referencing the restaurant from which the song draws its name (there’s a cool backstory here). But the most important aspect of the track is Bam Bam’s ability to accurately use the word “dingleberry,” which may be a first in rap but nothing new for our favorite pudgy emcee whose gift of gab knows no bounds.
