One of Bambu’s many strengths as an emcee is the ability to provoke emotion. The plainspoken power in his words is special, and whether his aim is to make the listener raise a fist to the sky or reflect on violence in the home, the man consistently hits straight in the gut. Adele has the same ability, and “Someone Like You” is a great example. With her clarion voice on full display, it’s affecting and uplifting at the same time, with everything she’s trying to express coming through crystal clear. It’s also the perfect sample for this track.
As Bambu weaves his tale of domestic violence, pain and redemption, Adele’s sterling piano and incandescent vocals match the mood exactly. Yet another haymaker to the body. If y’all would excuse me, I’ve got to go catch my breath.
“Something” will be part of (short changed), the bonus EP that comes with the re-release of his 2009 release …exact change…. The package’s set to drop on April 29th through Beatrock Music Label.[audio:http://ia600403.us.archive.org/19/items/Bambu-Something/bambu-Something.mp3%5D
