D.C. in the summertime is beautiful beyond words, and if Fat Trel’s “By The Way” is any indication what Nightmare on E. St. will resemble, residents of Chocolate City could very well have their soundtrack for the warmer months on hand. The ever-reliable Kane Beatz underhand lobs a subdued, yet perfect platform for Trel’s one-of-a-kind hostile delivery to toe-tag what serves as the intro from the aforementioned project.
The song itself accomplishes two goals. One, it showcases the D.C. bully’s propensity build quality songs with even more quality production while not losing sight of his natural content. Awhile back, I compared him to an early-Rocafella Beanie Sigel and I’ll continue to stand by the link as long as this type of music continues to resonate. And two, the record’s long enough to get the point across while leaving the perfect cliffhanger. We’ll just have to wait until March 26 to see if Trel delivers a perfect nightmare or forgettable dream.

Bonus: Let’s double up while we’re at it, why don’t we? Trel joins Young Moe as the two have had enough of their ribs touching and decide to get money by any means necessary. Is it right? Not at all. But is it the way things go down on a daily basis? Absolutely. And, for the record, Trel’s verse was nothing short of a gem.
