I think that all the silence is worst than all the violence/Fear is such a weak emotion that’s why I despise it…
The road to Lupe Fiasco’s Lasers has been well documented. With so many happenings – or setbacks, rather – in the album’s progression, frustration has obviously been nearing code red levels. For such a poigiant artist as Fiasco, the process has been difficult and, at times, annoying to witness. However, squabbles with the corporate power structure and revolts from fans needed to ultimately culminate is a powerful statement. Cue his Skylar Grey partnered single, “Words I Never Said.”
This isn’t a club single, but rather it is something I chose to define as a statement single; think Eminem and Rihanna’s “Love The Way You Lie.” Chicago’s own cuts no corners as he directly addresses a grocery list of issues which have been seeping under his skin for years including: the failing educational system in America, views and stereotypes on the Islamic faith even to his perceived failures of President Obama’s administration. Skylar Grey’s hook brings the experience full circle fostering that hard to ignore feeling that this will translate into a huge record in the coming weeks.
The ball is in your court now, Atlantic. You wanted a crossover single from Lupe. Well, here it is.[audio:http://www.archive.org/download/LupeFiascoFeat.SkylarGrey-wordsINeverSaid/LupeFiasco-WordsINeverSaidFt.SkylarGrey.mp3%5D
