Back in the early ’90s, Tribe had most men at the mercy of Ms. Bonita Applebum. Almost two decades later, the same chick with such plentiful measurements has Slum Village and De La Soul singing quite a different tune.
“Turning Me Off” is the lead single from the current incarnation of the group Dilla made famous and features two of hip-hop’s marquee names claiming they’ve grown out of pandering for pussy, especially when many women are losing their dignity to simply snuggle up with opportunity. It’s a solid, Young RJ-produced record that should reinvigorate fans of Detroit’s marquee crew, despite only having one original member remaining, as well as help bolster their upcoming Dirty Slums project with Mick Boogie, which is due for download on March 27.
