With the increasing convenience and widespread improvement in music-making technology, the old-school method of live instrumentation has quickly become a waning art. But The Shotgun Wedding Quintet has made their name priding themselves in the lost skill. Gaining years of experience playing on the streets of San Francisco as well as backing up acts like DJ Q-Bert, Zion I and Digital Underground, the group has grown into a five person band who’s multifaceted talents resemble a full on ten-piece ensemble. Bleeding jazz and blues and ancestry, “Vertigo” is a suspenseful throwback, led by frontman emcee Dublin, but carried by the soulful sounds of the sax, tuba and keys courtesy of the good, old fashioned live band.
