While Birdman’s stated his intentions to sign Chief Keef at any costs, rumors of a CTE signing have lurked in the background as well. Watch those talks crank up a bit now that Keef and Jeezy are featured together here for the finished version of “Understand Me.” While riding with CMR looks to make more financial sense, Corporate Thugs would be a more organic situation since Jeezy and co. have always maintained a strong fanbase in the streets and parallels are there between Snowman and Keef – the unusually catchy ad-libs, a rise based largely on regional support and just the pure thug nature of their content*. Tack on the random tidbit of Keef being trapped in his granny’s house and early mixtape Jeezy rapping about trapping out his granny’s house.
Then, there’s always the potential Midwest synergy between Gibbs and Sosa. Imagine the proliferation of gang signs and gunshots to be seen and heard. From the sidelines, the CTE fit seems much more natural.
Chief Keef Feat. Young Jeezy – “Understand Me”

* – On the other side, CMR’s liable to dilute the young Chicagorilla’s better characteristics: the pure unruliness, unstructured vibe to his music and persona and his appeal to other teens facing similar circumstances.
