Today’s entry in Nick Cannon’s continued campaign of ignorance came under the guise of a press run visit to Good Morning America to promote his new album, White People Party Music. The real purpose of the visit was to talk his way out of his “Connor” character that spawned a whole “Whiteface” controversy last week.

He was quick to admit he knew what would happen. However, I think it’s safe to say he didn’t realize the extent of flack he would receive. “It was one of those things, obviously, even when naming my album title and doing the character,” he explained. “I knew it would spark some controversy. But I feel like it’s a conversation that’s needed because we all have differences, we embrace it.”

Then, he got pseudo righteous and intelligent with – while sitting their with his hair dyed blonde with cheetah spots – by remarking that “Whiteface, if you look it up and Google it, it’s a ski slope up in upstate New York.”

Host George Stephanopoulos disappointingly lobbed straight softballs at Nick, allowing Mr. Carey a chance to tap dance his way out of the shit pile he’d created for himself. But, somebody on GMA’s staff knew Nick’s Achilles and slyly brought it up as a Facebook question from a viewer.

On the outside, Nick kept his composure. Inside?

Those Em jabs will never cease to eat at his soul.

I’m really glad Cannon didn’t pull this Whiteface stunt in February. If he had, he would’ve single-handedly ruined Black History Month by his damn self. That’s not to say he wouldn’t have had help because he clearly would have.

Here’s where we’re at: He knows he was wrong, White folks know he was wrong and Black folk know he was wrong. And the more he tries to explain it away, the deeper the hole he’s digging for himself gets. At this point, the White people who love him probably don’t want anything to do with White People Party Music.

Can’t say I blame them one iota.
