Nike Basketball’s ‘NOLA Gumbo League Collection’ For The 2014 NBA All-Star Game

Earlier today Nike shared the presser for the NBA All-Star pack, aptly titled the Nike 2014 NOLA Gumbo League Collection. Without relying on beaded necklaces, Mardi Gras masks, or Cajun food references, Nike comes through with a pack that’s emblematic of the city representing 2014’s NBA All-Star Game. The use of glow in the dark mint green is relied on heavily in each shoe with varying results. All in all, a solid offering.

Nike LEBRON 11 Gator King Side

The Nike Lebron 11 ‘Gator King’ uses a purple base and white Hyperposite bucket with hints of green to pay homage to the Rex Organization, king of all Mardi Gras celebrations. The marbling outsole stands out as well, but not nearly as much as the invisible tooth graphics on the white portion of the shoe once the lights are off. The gator motif continues on the tongue with a scaly appearance.

Nike KOBE 9 Elite Maestro Side

The free flowing spirit of Jazz manifests itself in the Nike Kobe 9 Elite ‘Maestro.’ A glow in the dark sole along with textured brass accents honors the New Orleans nightlife and the bevvy of musicians that have honed their craft all over the city. Using the brass instead of a matte gold really gives the swoosh and tongue emblem the look of re-purposed musical instruments.

Nike KD VI Illusion Side

Rounding out the trio is the Nike KD 6 ‘Illusion.’ A near seven-footer that can shoot and score from anywhere at will is perception defying, and the hand drawn strokes showcase Durant’s fluidity and wizardry on the offense side of the court.

The Nike 2014 NOLA Gumbo League Collection releases February 14th on Nike.com and at select retailers.
