The ‘Wolf Grey’ Nike Air Trainer Cruz Is An Ode To Classic Kicks

Victor Cruz, the most stylish man in the NFL – sorry Bellicheck – at long last has his own signature shoes in the Nike Air Trainer Cruz ‘Wolf Grey.’ And, big surprise, it’s a lifestyle shoe. Preceded by the initial ‘Haystack’ colorway, the Wolf Greys follow the quasi-tonal neutral theme of the line so far and if past sales are indication, the Cruz line won’t suffer the one-and-done treatment that Darrelle Revis got.

It’s fairly clear the Giants receiver is drawing inspiration from football classics as well as fellow style bro Kanye West with the studded heel counter, and the end product is a cohesive throwback that the sartorial sneakerhead will appreciate. For a time in the ’90s, cross trainers and turf shoes kept up with their basketball counterparts during Nike’s golden era. And had Cruz not affixed his name to the shoe, one would think the Trainers were a sample from Tinker Hatfield’s sketchbook in that same timeframe.

The ‘Wolf Grey’ Nike Air Trainer Cruz release December 11. Retail is $150.
