Playoffs are coming, which means one thing for Nike: more expensive shoes. The Elite line continues on with this year’s Nike Basketball Elite Series Team Collection.
The sublime cushioning of Lunarlon on top of a Zoom Air midsole is still present in the Nike LeBron 11 Elite Team. Aside from stealing parts of Voltron’s sword for aesthetics, the sole has been retooled a bit along with an even lower cut for a mid top and an articulated protective cage, whatever that means. We’re going to assume it means that the cage is for improved foot lockdown.
Nothing new but the colors with the Nike Kobe 9 Elite Team. As the first Flyknit Nike basketball shoe, the design wasn’t tweaked but the colors get the full on Lakers treatment. Shame, since the LA team is now part of #teamtank. But at least these will be available in time for fans to root for the Lakers to play spoiler for playoff bound teams.
The Nike KD VI Elite Team is probably the shoe that went under the knife in the most drastic way. The shape is kind of the same, but weight has been shaved off with the addition of a mesh material. To deal with foot lockdown suffering, the Flywire is reinforced with Kevlar fibers. A full length Zoom Air unit provides a ton of cushion and responsiveness, although now the shoe resembles a Lebron 10 low rather than an updated KD VI.
The Nike Basketball Elite Series Team Collection releases April 11 globally at select retailers.
