With Christmas quickly approaching, it could only mean three things: ugly sweaters coming out of the closet, quality basketball on TV, and a Nike Basketball holiday pack. As opposed to past holiday releases, this year’s collection leans pretty heavily on Christmas colors and themes.

Starting off is the Lebron 11 in a mint and red colorway. Bold snowflake patterns are blended with palm leaves to commemorate King James’ championships in Miami with a silver speckled translucent mint sole for the frost effect. No snow in Florida, so Bron Bron brought his own in the form of kicks.

Kevin Durant’s KD VI is slightly less brash in the holiday flavors, but not by much. A subdued pixilated sweater print is on the medial portion of the upper with the KD logo on the sole being wrapped with Christmas lights with a tartan plaid holiday inspired sockliner. A snow speckled midsole and gold swoosh finish off the details.

Kobe must have taken a look at Durant’s and James’ shoes and been like, “Fuck that.” Because there’s almost nothing Christmas-like on the last iteration of the Kobe 8 System. Serving as a prelude to the Kobe 9, this particular model has 3D translucent scales similar to a snake shedding its skin adorning the upper. Venom green accents and hints of gold for that “Elite” appeal set the shoe off something lovely, making it the best looking shoe of the pack.

This year’s pack might not be some folks’ cup of tea, but the designers deserve a little credit for making dual purpose lace locks. The locks from each pair can be snapped together to become Christmas ornaments. Very dope idea.

The Nike Basketball Christmas pack releases December 26th. Get your gift money ready.
