Nike’s been on the light, laceless kick for a good bit now. The Sock Dart, Sock Racer and Lunarfly 306 all come to mind off the top of my head and now they’ve lined up a new model in that fall in the same overall category, the new Free SOCFLY.
The model draws from the design language of the old Sock Racer but works with updated elements like the Velcro strap, the mesh upper and use of the Free 3.0 sole. Although I usually opt for Lunar anything over Free soles, the 3.0 is fairly friendly on the feet.
That strap’s the selling point for me though.
Last year’s Lunarfly 306 came through and crushed everything else as far as fast, easy, cheap and comfortable go. The only thing I wasn’t huge on was the huge “Just Do It” branding on the straps. They wear well but they also feel like walking billboards for Phil Knight and company. For the SOCFLY, they opted to tone it down a bit with a muted Swoosh on a few of the basic colorways.
Right now, multiple colorways are up for sale right now on Nikestore including black, cool grey, white, bright citrus and the black/pink flash versions all seen below. At $90, they won’t break the bank either.
