In the fall of 2003, I attended a weekend conference at Hampton University. What the purpose of said conference was left my memory years ago. All I remember is doing early enrollment that weekend and getting in. So, by the time my official acceptance letter arrived in the mail, the moment wasn’t as joyous as one conditions themselves to believe throughout high school.
Consider Noah Van Vooren’s moment the exact opposite.
Born with Down syndrome, Young Noah never allowed the condition to destroy his top priority: being accepted into college. Handed the letter by his parents who were filming the entire time, Vooren opens the letter only to realize his dream was no longer a dream. It’s starts this fall.
The euphoria in his reaction says a thousand better words than the ones seen here could hope to muster. Hairs on arms raise, goosebumps form and if you’re not careful, a tear may drop. Noah will be attending Edgewood College in Madison, Wisconsin, this fall in their Cutting Edge program which caters to students with developmental disabilities.
