As each day passes the NWA biopic, Straight Outta Compton, gets closer and closer to becoming a reality.

Dr. Dre took to his seldom used Twitter today to announce the release date of the film, August 14, 2015, a date recently vacated by the upcoming Borne Identity movie. Dre’s tweet also features the first promotional photo for the film, which features Dre, Ice Cube, the director F. Gary Gray alongside the three mostly unknown leads.

As previously reported, Ice Cube’s son will be portraying the role of his father, Jason Mitchell will play the late Eazy-E. One glaring difference, however, is that Corey Hawkins will be playing the role of Dre, which is contradictory to previous reports that stated an actor named Marcus Callender. According to Yahoo, this was merely a simple case of publications jumping the gun, and it was always Hawkins’ role. Still no word on whether MC Ren has been casted or will be featured.

While the previous casting rumors were never confirmed by Universal, the film is now officially announced and a go for next summer, 27 years after the group’s debut album of the same title.
