…well, half of that statement is true, at least.
President Obama, while being the subject for a New Yorker piece, revealed to magazine editor/story writer David Remnick that he really doesn’t have a problem with marijuana. Details can be found in The Atlantic, but to summarize:
Obama – in 2014, at least – is very much like any other rational adult willing to listen to a pro-weed argument. He acknowledges that it’s a vice – and, make no mistake, it is – that’s on par with cigarettes, which he used to be quite fond of. He also admits that lower class minorities get busted for weed at an unfair rate when compared to their middle-class counterparts, because they do.
As far outright support of an expansion of weed-legal states, he notes:
“…it’s important for it to go forward because it’s important for society not to have a situation in which a large portion of people have at one time or another broken the law and only a select few get punished.”
So, another (sort of) win for those who wave a green flag. Not that you needed the President to back up your lifestyle, but it can’t hurt.
