Waiting breathlessly for a movie to drop is all good and well (I see you, Pacific Rim!), but in today’s 24/7/365 internet age, getting surprised by a new movie is a rare treat. Enter Out Of The Furnace.
I stumbled across the trailer yesterday while looking up something completely different on YouTube, and ended up getting so hyped about the upcoming drama that I sunk a solid 30 minutes navigating a Wikipedia sinkhole pertaining to the movie.
What did I learn? Several things.
This could very well be your “Best Picture.” There are too many quality ingredients here, highlighted by…
1. A Christian Bale/Woody Harrelson 1-2 punch. Easily two of my top five favorite actors in the business. With Harrelson in particular, I don’t know if there’s a better under-the-radar actor, but he’s been on a winning streak since 2009’s The Messenger.
2. The people behind the scenes are just as impressive as the actors: Leo DiCcaprio, Ridley Scott and Scott Cooper (Crazy Heart) directing. These people know movies, from big-budget to indie and everything in-between.
Catch it November 27th.
