ATLiens Phone Home: Outkast Announces Atlanta Show

Depending on who you ask, Outkast’s reunion is the story of the year to date. Their 40-stop tour run has mostly (completely) included large, top-of-the-poster sets at festivals the country over.

But because there’s something poetic about ending things where they started, Three Stacks and Big have something huge in store to put a bow on everything. If you live in the south and consider Hip-Hop to be a big part of your life, consider this Billboard announcement your call to Mecca:

Antwan “Big Boi” Patton and André “3000” Benjamin have announced they’ll bring their reunited rap duo to Atlanta’s Centennial Olympic Park on Sept. 27 for a headline concert. Outkast will curate the show, with addition performers to be unveiled in the coming weeks.

“It’s only right that we give the hometown what we’ve been giving the rest of the world, Atliens in ATL, homecoming! Festival Killers,” comments Big Boi in a statement.

“Coming from Atlanta gave us the freedom to be whatever we ever wanted to be because no one was paying attention. Now that everyone is, we want to say thank you,” adds André 3000.

Outkast taking Atlanta one more time? With every mounting “Andre 3000 solo album” rumor, it seems less and less likely that the duo wears their Outkast jerseys once their tour is complete. So… not to sound pessimistic, but this summer might be the last time we see ‘Kast in the flesh in a while, ATL or otherwise. For now, stay tuned to us here and/or visit for additional info.

And as far as openers go, might I suggest a little Dungeon Family reunion?
