New OutKast Album Update #629: The Solo Albums Edition

Outkast is totally happening in 2014. But then, you already knew that. How about some tasty new rumors, courtesy of Revolt?

I’ll present this in a “best case scenario” style, because nothing is official yet. BUT, in a world where everything good happens, we should expect quite a bit more than the 40-stop tour that Andre 3000 and Big Boi are planning.

How much more? How’s a pair of solo albums – one from 3K, the other from Big – sound? Pretty awesome, right? Now, what if we told you that these were just primers leading up to the group’s first “proper” album since 2,000’s Stankonia?*

Needless to say, a calm, relaxed, wait-and-see approach needs to be employed here. But, damn. Dre and Big Boi could literally do whatever they wanted on this hypothetical album. Big K.R.I.T. producing a banger? Easy. Grabbing Bun B and a verse from the late, great Pimp C for a proper follow-up to ‘International Players’ Anthem?’ Done. Consider the amount of money that could potentially be made. Execs will break their back to make this happen. The only real limitation to the size and scope of such a project would be how much the duo is really prepared to work together. And Big Boi has been putting his money where his mouth is since the duo went on hiatus way back when.

Ball’s in your court, Mr. Three Stacks. Please don’t let us down.

– *Feel free to discuss what a “proper” ‘Kast album constitutes, but I’ll consider Stankonia their last outing as a duo. Idlewild never happened.
