Penn State University has been living in hell for the past year it seems and former FBI Investigator Louis Freeh’s bombshell investigative report could be nail in the coffin to one of American sports most cherished programs. Released this morning, the findings show, “The most powerful men at Penn State failed to take any steps for 14 years to protect the children who Sandusky victimized.” These powerful men include the late Joe Paterno.
The research covered 269 pages with interviews from over 400 people including 3.5 million documents. In what seems like the worst case of karma rearing its ugly head now, PSU hid facts from the board of trustees, authorities and the local community in order to avoid bad publicity.
With Jerry Sandusky’s conviction last month and him not seeing the light of freedom until sometime around the year 2460, the report is another grotesque chapter in a polarizing era in American sports. Children’s innocence were taken away and Penn State University has a black eye it will never rid itself of. And there’s no one to feel sorry for except the victims. The number of wins, national championships or famous alumni pales in comparison to seeing a grown man rape children in the shower only to turn the other cheek all in the name of a “good reputation.”
At this point, the popular sentiment now is to hit Happy Valley with the death penalty.
