Buckle up, America. It’s that time of the year again.
That time when advertisements put on their Sunday’s best. That time of the year when news outlets from Boston to Honolulu and everywhere in between descend upon one city for one football game that literally commands the attention of an entire country (and parts of the world, too).
The media spectacle that is “Super Bowl week” is indeed a grandstanding sight to behold, consistently ranking as one of TV ratings’ most prized possessions year-in and year-out. And a week before kickoff, Pepsi tosses its name into the hat swinging for the fences. Taking an unique spin on the phrase “halftime show,” Deion Sanders, Terry Bradshaw, Shannon Sharpe and Mike Ditka – all of whom boast their fair share of “Super Sunday” experiences – don their performance hats while celebrities like Cassadee Pope, Prince Royce, Juicy J, Wale, Jhene Aiko and more nod in approval.
With so many professionals out of their element, the risk of running a good idea into the ground was present. Thankfully, the role reversal wasn’t shabby in the least bit (including the shot/nod at Kanye) and premiered during music’s version of the Super Bowl – The Grammys.
