Bullshit and traffic fall under the same umbrella. No matter how long your life goes without either, chances are one or the other is bound to rear its head when least convenient. Phil The Thrill’s new record “Long Day” deals with the former and how an independent artist struggles to balance dreams and reality.
Time away from music to live life, pay bills and stockpile experiences is what Phil credits for this newfound dedication to the craft. “To make music from the heart that people can relate to and music that will remain timeless is my main objective right now,” said the Virginia MC. “Therefore, the breaks are necessary for me to truly take my time to perfect a craft that I have too much respect for to just take lightly.”
No qualms there. At some point we all have to remove ourselves from a passion momentarily to reevaluate what we’ve accomplished and where we’re headed. Lord knows I’m doing that now. Look for Phil to embark on an active summer with the impending release of SleepLESS and Barely Awake II.
Bonus: Here’s another laid-back, oldie-but-goodie track from Phil that’s been on repeat for a few weeks now.
