Denver police seem to think whatever led to three people being shot outside the recent Nas-Schoolboy Q-Flying Lotus show was not a coincidence. At the moment, they believe ScHool and the gang were likely targets.

“‘This is not just a coincidence. We think there is probably more to it than that,” said Jacki Kelley, a spokeswoman for the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office. ‘It does seem to be more targeted than random.’

“No arrests have been made, but Kelley said investigators have received numerous tips and are trying to determine a motive for the attack in a parking lot at the outdoor venue…”

The suspect, described only as being six feet tall, reportedly opened fire with a rifle. He managed to flee the scene.

According the the AP report, ScHoolboy Q wasn’t injured but three members in the vehicle suffering non-life threatening injuries from gunshots from Thursday’s incident. One of the injured was released from the hospital Friday morning. After their vehicle was fired on, the group drove 15 miles in search of a hospital before being stopped by Denver police and taken for medical attention.

Initially, the rapper and another person were detained at the scene before police determined they were victims, not suspects.

For his part, Q has moved on, literally, announcing via Twitter that he was continuing on to perform in Iceland on Sunday before a scheduled New York performance.
