Puff Daddy And The Family Take It Back To Basics With ‘Auction’ Video

Nothing says Bad Boy like a minimalist black and white video directed by Hype Williams. And that’s exactly what Puff has given us with the newly released visuals for “Auction,” one of my favorite joints from a seemingly underrated album, MMM. Styles P., King Los, and Lil’ Kim join the Bad Boy CEO for an all black everything function, complete with handshake routines, salutes, and that patented Puff Daddy dancing.

As an aside, I don’t think I’ll ever get used to what Kim has done to herself. She was a gorgeous woman who just went crazy with the plastic surgery. I look at her and I’m reminded of an old Johnny Carson joke from the ’79 Oscars when he looked out at the crowd during his monologue and said: “I see a lot of new faces. Especially on the old faces.” It’s just a reminder of simpler times when she was last seen “dressed in all black like the omen.”

But I digress. While the entire project was solid, it’s this song that got me the most interested in No Way Out 2 as it had that same energy and vibe from the first project which is almost 20 years-old. Not quite old enough to drink, but old enough to be celebrated. Let’s hope Puff Daddy and the Family provide a fitting sequel to honor it.
