QB Carson Palmer Is Now An Oakland Raider

The NFL is notorious for having uninspired trade deadlines, but the fine folks from Oakland and Cincinnati look to buck that trend this year. Per ESPN, the Raiders and Bengals are on the verge of swapping embattled quarterback Carson Palmer for two draft picks. One of the picks is a guaranteed first-rounder in 2012, the other, a 2013 pick, will be either a first or a second-rounder, depending on how Oakland fares in the playoffs this year.

To put things in perspective, the Bengals’ braintrust now has additional high draft picks to play with in 2012 and 2013 for the services of a player that, trade or no trade, had already seen his last snap as a Bengal. I don’t know whether to applaud the Bengals for taking their heads out of their asses or questioning Oakland for paying so much for a quarterback that hasn’t inspired confidence since 2006. Whatever the case, the Bengals would appear to have committed a heist. Oakland fans, what say you?
