The fearsome red glow at the bottom of this post may seem alarming at first glance. But when you can produce fire at will like Quelle, a little red light is just the natural byproduct of things. Ahem. You may have heard that sort of thing before. But excuse the hackneyed metaphor y’all, because whether it’s on the production tip with his work on Danny Brown’s The Hybrid – “Greatest Rapper Ever,” “Re-Up” and “Guitar Solo” are his creations, among others – or controlling a microphone, Quelle consistently delivers flames. “The Loop” is no exception, as the man from Detroit demonstrates a deliberate, steady flow and easy command of off-kilter punchlines. Add the thumping, marauding beat built from muffled drums and a yowling guitar lick and bam, there’s the spontaneous combustion.
