Dear Lord another 808’s and Heartbreaks mixtape?
Yup. But this one is, well, good. Actually it’s great. And when people start making their Mixtape of the Year lists come December, Rashid Hadee’s 808’s and Hadee project will definitely deserve a spot. Rashid doesn’t just spit over 808’s instrumentals. The Chicagoan chops up the beats, samples Yeezy’s vocals and adds a little slice of awesome to each track. Add on the fact that Rashid is a worthy lyricist and we have an album-quality tape.
Peep “(Love) Lockdown” where Rashid weaves tales of struggle and recession with Kanye’s “Lockdown” yelp. Or “Rhyme and Reason” to show that homie can really spit. Between this and Slaughterhouse, my ears have been singing a happy song.
Check this out, you won’t be disappointed.
As always, thanks to Drew for the heads up.
