One of the hardest things for an artist to do nowadays is making his/her single an the pillar of quality the album. With Scarface’s 2002 classic, The Fix, turning 10 years old next month, the lead single “My Block” accomplished just that.

Fix remains one of the most important albums in my lifetime. With “My Block,” the song and video was more than simply a regional tribute to H-Town. Rather, the song represented a declaration of independence for every block around America whether it be the burbs or the ‘jects. As long as you were proud of the area you grew up in, “My Block” will forever remain an anthem of the days that made you who you are today (for better or worse).
