Sacha Baron Cohen always does a good job of staring stereotypes in the face and laughing, and his latest, The Dictator, looks to follow suit. Centered around a caricature of a Middle Eastern dictator, the movie looks to examine American xenophobia through Ali G’s warped lens. While early trailers indicated little more about plot than Cohen’s goofy character, the latest two minute preview gives more information away, hinting that ‘The Dictator’ will be something of a fish out of water story.
Considering the incredibly loose plots of both ‘Borat’ and ‘Brüno,’ this could be Cohen’s most linear movie yet. Don’t take that as a negative critique or anything, though, because the new trailer is chock-full of hilarious moments, highlighted by a casually racist John C. Reilly. Between Reilly and Cohen, I’d be shocked if this movie was anything less than hilarious. I’m just crossing my fingers that it features 100% less penis than his previous two outings.
The Dictator hits theaters May 11, 2012.
