The chickens may be coming home to roost for Nicki Minaj, as the rapper is reportedly this >< close to officially being sued by former fiance and collaborator Safaree “SB Stunts” Samuels.
Before Nicki was cupcaking on the ‘Gram with Meek Mill, the Queens rapper was in a “secret” 10-year-long relationship, both romantic and professional, with Safaree. And now that the dust has settled in their public and very nasty break-up, and Safaree isn’t living as large as he once was when he was Nicki’s wig carrier, TMZ reports that he’s lawyering up and coming for the “Feelin’ Myself” rapper’s points and royalties.
The website says Safaree is looking to get a cut from all three of Nicki’s studio albums, and a cut from hit records “Flawless” (Remix), “Feelin’ Myself” and “Only,” which interestingly features Drake and Lil Wayne dogging the sh*t out of him. As proof that he really was shooting in the gym with Nicki, Safaree will reportedly be presenting a “boatload” of proof in the form of hours of studio footage, voice memos and video from recording sessions. He also has a couple of witnesses on deck to co-sign his statements.
The threat of a lawsuit comes damn near a year after the 34-year-old former hypeman confirmed he was Nicki’s co-writer on many of her songs. “Every time it came to writing raps and doing music, it was her, me, and the beat,” he told The Breakfast Club in January. “She doesn’t do it by herself. It’s me and her. Don’t discredit me on what I’ve done for you.”
Months later, Safaree doubled down on his original statement with the Nicki and Meek Mill diss, “Lifeline,” rapping, “This n*gga bent outta shape with a gorilla face/ My bars on ‘The Pinkprint’ no one will ever match.” Hmm, such fire emoji.
According to AllMusic, Safaree is credited as A&R on The Pinkprint, A&R, composer, executive producer on Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded, and A&R, vocals on Pink Friday.
Nicki has yet to respond.
