Shad Uses *Gasp* Rap To Plug His New Rap Album

For all the promo tools being used to push rap albums these days, honest-to-goodness rapping seems to fall pretty low on the list. Not so for Shad – his straight-to-the-point, seven-minute “Grammy Family” freestyle makes for a great teaser for his upcoming third album, Flying Colours, set to drop this fall.

If not quite in the pantheon of Jay-Z’s notable Kingdom Come-era freestyle over the same song, Shad’s lyrical blitzkrieg encompasses his own touch points – blue collar humor, sports references, and a socially-conscious streak – in much the same way. In Shad’s own words, “it’s hood conscience and good nonsense.”
