SHIRT.’s one of the most enigmatic personas that we have in rap right now.
You never hear from him outside of his sporadically released music and his face doesn’t always appear in his videos. Then, he feigned an interview with The New York Times, sending folks into a tizzy and causing a few people all into their feelings. Most of his records don’t have traditional hooks, but his rhymes are so saw, so against the grain that they become attached to your memory. It’s the entire package that makes SHIRT. one of the absolute most entertaining emcees out today with the bars to back him.
And the man just released his new project, titled RAP, for all to hear. It’s a simple name with an equally simple release. His music has always spoken for him and it’s no different now. No true hype, no overblown marketing schemes. Just his craft and the final product. “Take Off” and “Tuscan Leather” are among the standout records. His overall sound is a fresh take on the Golden Age sound that’s sure to bridge the gap between the old heads and young blood.
