100-Word Review – Skeme’s “Alive & Living”

So far, Skeme’s been touted as a rapper who possesses vast potential and with Alive & Living, he’s looking cash in. The Californian comes out strong, throwing around his improved lyrical prowess freely on tracks like “Alive,” but it doesn’t take long for the album to become formulaic. His double-flow is spot on and his metaphors are enjoyable, but about halfway through it all starts blending together. The records are largely all similar to each other and despite Skeme’s technical savvy, lose their ability to really stand out and define him as an emcee.

Standout Songs: “Kidz With Gunz,” “Mo Flow,” “Just Might”
