When you’re part of a well-oiled collective like SMKA, standing alone aside from the brand isn’t easy. Yet, 808 Blake does just that with his first instrumental project, titled 808 Blake’s Love Child.
Using a concise palette of ten tracks, the baritone of the Atlanta-based production crew touts his skill using a plethora of different vibes, that come together for a multidimensional ride of highs and speaker-shaking lows. Certain tracks are tough (“Purple Dream”) and others are laid back (“Crumbling”), while tracks like “Floating” and “Cycles” just blend both styles in one – showing how cohesive Blake’s beats are across the board.
Nothing over the top here. Just a very solid project from a budding producer who clearly warrants some shine of his own.
