After catching considerable backlash, Soulja Boy quickly issued a mea culpa to members of the nation’s armed services after dissing them via song. In a statement published on Global Grind, young SB admitted that he let his words get the best of him. Soulja said “things that we want to express, and when we put them on paper and speak them out loud, they can come out wrong. When I expressed my frustration with the US Army, not only did my words come out wrong, I was wrong to even speak them.” He continued to by saying there’s no way he would “ever want to offend those who are protecting our freedoms.”
Reading between the lines, I think the guy was just f*cking high when he made “Let’s Be Real,” sobered up once shit hit the fan and decided backpedaling to be the better option. Lupe wouldn’t have apologized for it, I tell you that much! But great job by Uncle Russell’s outfit to help the young boy at least attempt to halfway cover his ass. We all have our frustrations with the government, its policies and may question the motives behind wars. But to direct frustration at angry troops is anger misguided. If they don’t protect our “freedoms,” who will?
