The Dallas Mavericks had a prime opportunity on their hands. A rare chance of not only stealing a game in San Antonio stood on their doorstep, but so did grabbing the all-important home court advantage. Things looked even worse for the Spurs when Tim Duncan went to the locker room after banging knees with Monta Ellis. With no warning whatsoever, the Mavericks were held to a single field goal the final seven minutes of the game allowing San Antonio to pry away a 90-85 victory in Game 1.
Tim Duncan and Tony Parker led the way with 27 points and seven rebounds and 21 points and six dimes, respectively; a stark contrast to their Hall of Fame counterpart Dirk Nowitzki who finished with 11 points on 4-14 shooting. Game 2 is Wednesday night on NBA TV at 8:30 p.m.
