It still bugs me out to know that T-Pain doesn’t just sing, he can saaang. And he did just that when NPR hosted the 32-year-old artist as part of their Music Front Row series. The invitation was also in honor of the one-year anniversary of his jaw-dropping Tiny Desk Concert episode and the 10th anniversary of his debut album Rappa Ternt Sanga.
10 freaking years since “I’m Sprung” and “I’m N Luv Wit A Stripper?!” I’ve done absolutely nothing with my life. Anyway, Tallahassee Pain belted a number of tunes, including Sam Cooke’s classic, “A Change Is Gonna Come” (13:25 mark) in honor of a his father Shasheem Najm. “Change” is a tough song to sing if you don’t have the pipes, but as Pain proved before, he’s the real deal.
