Sex, drugs and Blaxploitation films.

The ’70s were defined by a lot more than those three features, but it’s no denying the impact the trio had on one of the most influential decades. The Black Godfather was released in September 1974, the golden age of the genre’s renaissance. While it doesn’t receive the long-standing accolades films such as The Mack, Foxy Brown, Black Belt Jones or Shaft do, TBG is worth the 94 minutes in its own regard.

Because, really, who doesn’t want to see a guy named J.J. (Rod Perry) battle heroin cartels, get money, move up the dope dealing power rankings and have women throw themselves at him at a moment’s notice? That’s right. Click play. You weren’t doing anything this afternoon anyway.
