The Distinct Life’s “Dirty 30 For 30” Series: Week One Recap

06.08.12 6 years ago

Burn Rubber co-owner and The Distinct Life’s Rick Williams is one of those guys who I draw heavily with. There are people with ideas to do creative things and then there are those who go above and beyond with their vision. Rick falls in the latter group, always thinking of ways to do things on a grander scale. It’s never “I’m going to climb that mountain.” Instead, the challenge becomes “I’m going to climb that mountain and then build a castle on top of the peak.”The difference between him and most big thinkers? Rick manages to see things into fruition.

His latest creative endeavor is the “Dirty 30 For 30,” a 30-day run of photos and personalities that works in multiple ways. The theme behind the “Dirty 30” series picks up where last year’s original “30 For 30” left off and sees the Motor City’s most intriguing artist, athletes, and tastemakers paired with sneakers set to be released at a later time. In its essence, the project’s a lookbook of sorts done with the help of photographer Jeremy Deputat but the beauty behind it comes from Rick’s desire to play city chamber of commerce member by highlighting talents from the town. Having seen how Rick, Ro and the whole Burn Rubber outfit work, it’s hard to imagine them doing anything reppin’ the D in the process.

Each week, we’ll be working with Rick to recap the previous seven days of the “Dirty 30 For 30.” If you want to keep track on a daily basis by yourself, follow the show by clicking here.
