Everyone deals with a break up differently, so maybe The-Dream’s 1977 was his way of officially closing the Christina Milian chapter of his life. And while he may never come out publicly and admit said project was about his ex, the similarities are entirely too bright to ignore. “Long Gone” finds Terius reminiscing on the days of a relationship that was no longer the apple of his eye and material things ceased disguising the feelings that had long since perished. Shot in New York a few weeks back, here’s to hoping he filmed a few more in the process, especially one for “Wake Me When It’s Over.”
Quiet as kept though, 1977 was a compilation of quality work from Mr. Nash. It won’t have the staying power of the another heartbreak inspired album, Confessions, but whatever hurt he was going through at the time of the recording process paid dividends.
