It’s been two years since Wes Anderson gave us the coming-of-age, eccentric (and incredibly witty) comedy Moonrise Kingdom. Mostly operating in the shadows since then, The Grand Budapest Hotel marks Anderson’s return to the silver screen.
Based on author Tom Wilkinson’s novel, the film’s a period piece (because Anderson apparently hates the present) about a famed hotel concierge and his oddball adventures from the 1920s onward, this just-released trailer promises all forms of zaniness. As is the case with Anderson’s films, we get an assortment of A-list actors and actresses in both starring and cameo roles. And of course, it wouldn’t be an Anderson film without Bill “Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop” Murray and Jason “Is Probably A D**** In Real Life” Schwartzman.
With a teaser that’s sparse on plot details but heavy on quirk and out of this world characters, you can probably expect The Grand Budapest Hotel to make a splash with critics and fans of Anderson’s shenanigans next year. The movie arrives worldwide March 7th, 2014.
