The iPod Shuffle: Do Or Die Feat. Kanye West – “Higher”

Before Kanye was in a power couple, mocking PETA and stopped referred to himself as “Tidda,” the renown Chi-Town faction known as Do Or Die linked up with the budding superstar for “Higher.” Lacing an updated version of Teddy Pendergrass’ “You’re My Latest, My Greatest Inspiration” with a similar theme and killer flows, the first single from D.O.D.’s last notable album combined two generations of Illinois Hip-Hop like juice and gin and turned out to be a pretty successful single for the aging trio of pimpin’ MCs.

Still standing the test of time seven years later, the song’s most notable storyline might be how both of their respective careers wound up going in completely different directions – with Yeezy soaring to the upper-echelon of rap and Do Or Die basically fading into obscurity. Yet, with Belo Zero out of jail after serving only four years of a ten-year bid, true fans of the group will hear this and hope that maybe – just maybe – Kanye will reach back down and help pull up his one-time idols for a long overdue comeback run.

But, we’re not holding out breathe, either.
